  • The Challenge.

    60 Year Transformation - A complete overhaul of Northern Ireland's post-primary school registration process.

    For the past 60 years, parents and guardians in Northern Ireland have registered their children for the SEAG Entrance exam via a lengthy and tedious paper-based process. This traditional method resulted in a lead time of 3-4 weeks for parents and required weeks of admin resource for the SEAG panel processing 18,000 applications annually.

    The newly secure SEAG software portal has significantly reduced this lead time to just 3 minutes for online application submissions. SEAG digital portal now offers a fully automated process benefiting both Parents and SEAG Admin Panel, ensuring a smooth user experience across all major digital devices.

    Building a custom, intuitive, and secure software application portal that seamlessly caters to users of all IT literacy levels. Our user-centric design ensures easy navigation, enhanced access arrangement features and an optimal user experience, driving engagement and satisfaction across mobile and desktop devices.

    SEAG recognised the challenges busy parents face. That's why their platform, developed by Sugar Rush, prioritised a smooth and efficient registration process. Parents could register their child quickly with a user-friendly interface. The ability to save progress at any point eliminated the stress of starting over if interrupted.

    Clear language and a streamlined user interface, rigorously tested for optimal experience, minimised the effort and stress for parents. This transformed a potentially complex registration process into a smooth and effortless experience, allowing parents to focus on their busy lives.

    Recognising the potential anxieties surrounding a new process, SEAG offered robust support systems to reassure parents. 

    Detailed FAQs addressed common concerns, while a user-friendly chat-like support request system allowed parents to easily reach out for help should they have a more specific issue or need. This clever system efficiently managed enquiries, ensuring prompt responses from admins and minimising parent frustration. Mobile Application & Desktop compatible.

    A user-friendly ‘chat-like’ support request system allowed parents to easily reach out for help should they have a more specific issue or requirement.


    Ensuring Access for everyone.

    Ensuring a fair and inclusive environment was paramount. The platform offered a dedicated section for Access Panel Admins, independent of SEAG, to securely review requests for special access arrangements. This transparent process ensured pupils requiring additional support received the necessary accommodations during the transfer test. 

    Parents could confidently submit requests knowing a team of independent specialists would meticulously assess each case. This transparency instilled trust and ensured pupils requiring additional support, like extended time or modified testing environments, received the necessary accommodations during the transfer test. This approach ensured a truly inclusive testing experience, allowing all children to demonstrate their abilities to the best of their potential.

    The portal offers a dedicated section, enabling SEAG to securely review requests for special access arrangements and processing secure payments.


    We digitally transformed the SEAG process.

    Sugar Rush created a centralised hub for managing the entire transfer test process. They could monitor key metrics through informative dashboards. A dedicated contact request section facilitated easy management of parent enquiries. 


    Assessment centre details and pupil information, including a secure application verification system, were readily accessible. Additionally, the platform streamlined result management and provided a clear overview of payments received.

    Users completed the online six-step process in under 3 minutes on average, making the application journey more efficient. 94% of parents found the process "easy to use," and there was an 86% reduction in administrative time.

    The SEAG platform revolutionised Northern Ireland's legacy process for managing post-primary transfer applications and test results. It is now the exclusive method for students applying to take the post-primary school tests across the province.

    The SEAG platform is firmly established and has become a household name, successfully digitising a 60-year-old institutional process. The Sugar Rush team are hugely proud of our collaboration with SEAG.
