The Sugar Rush team had a fantastic day exhibiting at the NI Chamber Festival of Business 2026, held at St George’s Market in Belfast.
The Festival of Business is always a great opportunity to bring together companies from across Northern Ireland, make new connections and get a feel for the ideas, technology and opportunities driving businesses forward.
This year, Sugar Rush was delighted to be part of it with our own stand — and in true Sugar Rush style, we weren't going to turn up empty-handed!
We wanted our stand to feel like us: colourful, informal, welcoming and somewhere people could stop for a chat.
So, naturally, there were sweets. Lots of sweets.
We also had freshly made candy floss, which proved to be a pretty effective way of attracting people to the stand throughout the day!
It created a brilliant atmosphere and, more importantly, gave us the opportunity to meet and chat with a huge number of people. Some came over to find out more about Sugar Rush, some wanted to talk technology and potential projects — and we're fairly certain a few were initially there just for the candy floss.
Either way, it worked.
The stand was busy throughout the event, with plenty of new introductions, familiar faces and some genuinely interesting conversations about the challenges businesses are facing and how technology could help.
Since 2003, Sugar Rush has been designing and developing digital products for businesses and organisations across the UK and Ireland.
A lot of our conversations at the Festival centred around custom software development, mobile applications and digital platforms — particularly where businesses are looking to replace outdated systems, improve internal processes or bring multiple systems together into one streamlined platform.
Every business is different, and increasingly we're seeing organisations looking beyond off-the-shelf software for technology that can be designed around exactly how their business operates.
That's where we come in.
Exploring what's next with AI
Alongside our established software and app development work, we're continuing to invest in emerging technologies and explore how AI can be applied to real-world business challenges.
It's an exciting area for Sugar Rush and one we're actively developing across a number of different applications.
AI was also a big part of the conversation at the Festival. Rather than looking at AI simply because it's the latest technology, we're particularly interested in where it can deliver genuine value — improving processes, making better use of data, automating tasks and creating smarter digital products.
We have some exciting work happening behind the scenes in this space, with more to share in the future.
One of the biggest benefits of events like the Festival of Business is simply getting out and talking to people.
Technology projects often begin with a business challenge rather than a predefined technical solution. Throughout the day we spoke with organisations about everything from replacing legacy software and improving internal processes to mobile applications, integrations, automation, AI and creating better digital experiences for their customers.
Those conversations are exactly where we like to start.
Our approach at Sugar Rush has always been to understand the business, identify the problem and then determine how technology can realistically solve it.
Sometimes that means a mobile app. Sometimes it's a bespoke software platform, a new website or an integration between existing systems. Increasingly, it can also mean exploring how AI and emerging technologies can complement those solutions.
It was brilliant to meet so many businesses from across Northern Ireland under one roof.
Events like this give us an opportunity not only to talk about Sugar Rush and the work we're doing, but also to hear directly from other businesses about the challenges they're facing and where they see opportunities to improve through technology.
We came away from the day with plenty of new introductions, some very interesting conversations and a number of discussions we're looking forward to continuing.
A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to visit the Sugar Rush stand, whether it was to discuss a potential project, find out more about what we do or simply say hello.
And, of course, congratulations to the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry team for bringing together another brilliant Festival of Business and showcasing the strength, ambition and innovation within Northern Ireland's business community.
We're already looking forward to the next one.
